Daily Blog

Well, it is not really daily. Sometimes I take my camera with me and make some randome shots. The results can be found in my photoblog. I also use a Panasonic GF2 for events where I don't want to carry my big camera with me. These shots can be found here, too.

Olpe Schützenfest 2011

The Olper Schützenfest is one of the biggest events in my hometown. It is about shooting a wooden bird and drinking beer. This year, they had a very large parade with all kind of corps and stuff. It was a sunny day and it was fun to make photos during this event.

London Riots 2011

I made a small trip to the UK this year. During that time, the big London riots took place and I was way to close to the action. But I would never go out and bring my camera gear to the riots. These shots only show the aftermath in Ealing.

Venice Trip 2011

In 2011 I made my first trip to Venice. I brought my whole gear with me and in this collection you will find all shots I made during these five days. I was there in summer and the town was very crowded. But still a nice place to visit.

BMX Masters 2010

My buddy Teymur took me to the BMX Masters 2010 in Cologne. It was a very hot summer day and I had the chance to test a Nikon D3 with my 70-200mm f2.8 during this event. Cool bikes, cool tricks and cool dudes. It was a pretty cool event and my very first sport event to shot.

London Trip 2011

London, I love London and I have been there a lot of times. This town always fascinates me and everytime I am there, I find new places and spots to discover. These shots are from my latest trip in 2011. It was also the time where the big riots took place. You find those shots in another gallery.

Deutscher Fernsehpreis 2009

I went there with my buddy Teymur. It was my very first event with celebrities and a red carpet. I was quite nervous and the shots are only decent. But back then, I was a real learner.

700 Jahre Olpe

This is basically a test session for my 24-70 which I bought two days before the event. These shots are from the celebration parade from the 700 years anniversary of the city of Olpe

Japantag Düsseldorf 2011

The city of Düsseldorf has the largest Japanese community in Germany. Each year the city celebrates a big event with fireworks, costumes, food and many other things around the culture of Japan.

✭ About

testWelcome to my website. My name is Ben Fredericson. I am a photographer and web developer from Germany. This site contains a small collection of my photos. I have tried a lot of different photoblogs and frameworks over the last couple of years but still, I have never really found a tool that gives me the functionality I want to have.

So I created this website. It is a static HTML website with some basic CSS elements. Nothing fancy and nothing to heavy. You get all of my photos in a 1000px size which is much more than flickr or 500px does. The best part is, you will see them on one single page without any clicking or popup boxes.

And now the best part. My photos are free. Yes, totally free. You can do whatever you want to do with them. People use my photos on their blogs and on their websites. Some of my shots made it into magazines and CD Rom extras (30 of my shots can be found on a Mac magazine bonus CD as iPad wallpapers) and even books. I have a travelling guide over here with one of my photos. Even a record cover was made with a photo I made. As I said, you can do with them whatever you want. Make a desktop wallpaper or a real wallpaper. Take the shot and edit it, compose something else or let it inspire you. You are free to do so. The licence thing is easy here. I publish them as Creative Commons photos. The rules say you have to place my name somewhere next to my photos but I don't really mind. But I would love to know where my photos can be found so placing my name somewhere gives me the chance to search for it on google.

If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough. - Robert Capa

Most people tend to interpret this wrong. It does not mean you have to be closer to your subject in terms of distance. It means, you are not close enough with your head and your heart. Robert Capa is the reason why I take photos today and he still manages to impress me with his work.

✭ Contact

You can contact me by mail ben.fredericson@gmail.com or by any other social media service. I will not give out my skype name but feel free to write me a mail, chat with me on Facebook or follow me on twitter. I have google+ but barely use it.

In the past, I used to place my photos on flickr but this has changed in the last year. I miss some basic possibilities there and all the other photoblogs are even worse. I still support flickr because I think it is the best way to publish photos on the net if you don't want to create your own website. You will find my old work there.

Follow me

Normaly, you can find me on all the important websites but I have made a list of the most important ones to me. And no, I don't have a 500px account yet. I want to stick to flickr.
